Misconceptions about Anti-Virus Programs

Here are a few commonly believed beliefs regarding popular Anti-Virus Software used by most people today.

What people believe: Once you have selected the anti-virus program of your choice, you will never get infected with malware, threat ware, adware, or even viruses and worms.

The Truth: That is not actually true. We should think in terms of having the best anti-virus, so when we do get infected, it can deal with it effectively, thereby minimizing any damage that these infections can cause. The truth of the matter is: no matter what anti-virus we choose, we will inevitably get some form of malware, so you want to have the anti-virus that blocks the most and reacts the best when something does happen.

What people believe: I have now selected the best anti-virus for my needs. It will automatically guard me with no monitoring by me.

The Truth: This also is some-what no true, although most of the Anti-viruses are pro-active and surf the web with you and no doubt offer excellent protection against an array of Malware and Adware. You should however still routinely monitor out anti-viruses and initiate weekly system scans. Not only is this the best way to get the most of all the applications and tools that your anti-virus offers it also is just a good idea.

One of the things you're going to look for and will notice fairly quick is the intrusiveness or lack there of, of an Anti-Virus Program. Personally we've noticed the best to be Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes has a free version, a constantly updated database of the newest viruses, rootkits, malware, etc., and is very unintrusive once you you see the correct settings to prevent constant pop-ups.
